Welcoming Fenton Barlow: Growing Our Team and Investing in the Next Generation at Gentium Tech International

We are pleased to welcome Fenton Barlow, who is starting his journey with Gentium Tech at just 16 years of age. Despite being at the very beginning of his professional career, Fenton has already proven himself to be a valuable asset to our sales department through his strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitude. His journey reflects our approach to nurturing potential, supporting different learning pathways, and creating opportunities for individuals to grow alongside our business. 

To introduce Fenton and share his perspective as he begins his career in IT technical sales, we asked him a few questions about his motivations, interests and ambitions. 


 What interests you about pursuing a career in IT technical sales? 

I’m interested in IT technical sales because it combines technology with working with people and offers strong career progression while learning on the job. I was brought up in a household where my dad is a salesman, so I’ve seen how building relationships and working hard can lead to success. 

IT technical sales appeals to me because it is fast-paced and rewarding, and it helps me build strong communication skills. I like working with people and understanding their needs, and I’m interested in learning more about technology at the same time. 


What do you hope to achieve during your time with Gentium Tech International? 

During my time at Gentium Tech, I hope to gain real work experience, build my confidence, and develop strong communication skills. I want to learn more about the IT industry, understand how sales works in a professional environment, and improve how I work with customers and with the wider team. 

I’m keen to develop skills that will support me long-term and to grow with the business as Gentium Tech continues to expand. I see this as the start of a long-term career journey, and I want to make the most of the opportunities available to me. 


Which subjects did you enjoy most at school, and how do they relate to your role in IT and technology? 

The subjects I enjoyed most at school were English and Media. I enjoyed English because it helped me develop communication and writing skills, which are important in a professional environment, especially when speaking with customers and colleagues. 

I enjoyed Media because it helped develop my creativity and understanding of digital content. This links well to working in a technology-focused business, where digital platforms, online communication and presenting information clearly are all important. 

 

Have you always been interested in technology or problem-solving? 

Yes, I have always been interested in technology and problem-solving. I enjoy learning how things work and finding solutions to different problems, especially when technology is involved. I like understanding systems and then using that knowledge to help improve processes or support other people. 

This interest in problem-solving is one of the reasons I was drawn to IT technical sales, as it involves understanding challenges and helping find the right solutions, not just selling a product. 

 

What are you most excited to learn as you begin your journey with Gentium Tech? 

I’m most excited to learn how to communicate confidently about IT services, understand customer needs properly, and match them with the right technical solutions. I also want to build my understanding of the different services Gentium Tech provides and how everything fits together across the business. 

Learning from experienced colleagues and being part of a growing team is something I’m really looking forward to, as it gives me the chance to develop in a real working environment.
